Forest Park residents have experienced 342 hours of idling trains next to their homes so far in 2024.

As of April 4, 2024

Mission:

This site’s purpose is to inform our community about the Union Pacific Railroad’s decision to designate our neighborhood as a standby location for its locomotives. Residents of Brown Avenue endure many hours of noise, fumes and vibrations from idling locomotives on a daily basis. We are asking for the community’s help to put a stop to this.

This InvestigateTV story does a great job of explaining the issue.

InvestigateTV delves into the issue of idling trains near homes, in Forest Park and elsewhere.

March 2024 update: We have learned that our neighbors in River Forest are also dealing with an uptick in idling. We are advocating for an end to idling locomotives in both residential areas, as well as any others nearby. When we began our advocacy we were specifically and uniquely impacted, but today we are here in solidarity with our neighbors all along the tracks.

This neighborhood is a place for people to live. It is not a rail yard.
